Fight trainers in Latin America employ a method for protecting the groin referred to as “Bendaje de Verga” or “Cock Wrappings.” In a manner similar to hand wrapping, the trainer wraps the groin of the fighter immediately after performing the well-known nude grease down technique for focus and relaxation.

​Revolutionary protection or weapon?

In February of 2019, a Guatemalan MMA fighter known as Paco Pingate was accused of loading his groin wraps with a plaster like substance very similar to the way Mexican boxer Antonio Margarito did in his fight against Sugar Shane Mosley.

The opponent of the Guatemalan suffered a broken nose and a dislocated jaw after having his face repeatedly rammed into the groin area of his attacker. The results of an investigation determined no foul play as evidence indicates Pingate did not tamper with his wraps but had ingested viagra strategically producing an artificially enhanced erection.

Guatemalan officials are currently determining whether someone from the commission will be appointed to supervise groin wrappings and possibly the full nude body grease down as well.
